Details
The auction will be held 12:00-14:00 on the 22nd February 2007, on the Queen's Lawn (or nearby shelter if it is raining). Viewing starts 12:00 and the auction will begin at 12:30. It will be a standard English auction. 10% of the proceeds of the auction will go into ICBUG's funds, and the rest will be shared amongst the following charities:
Bring cash to pay for your bike - no IOUs! Bring a lock to lock up your new bike - it is unlikely you'll be able to ride it away without some work.
If you are interested in getting news about the auction, please subscribe to one of our mailing lists.
Catalogue
Here are all the complete bikes which are to be auctioned. Things to note:
- None have been tested for rideability, and it is unlikely any are safe to ride away from the auction. However some may be ridden away if the tyres are pumped up (however, tubes may need replacement). Assume you will have to store the bike or do some work on it!
- Prices below the bikes are start prices. They do not indicate the actual value of the bike, which in many cases is very much higher, and in some may be lower. They indicate relative value based upon a short inspection. It is up to you to make sure you look at the bike you are bidding on and only bid to the value you think it is worth.
- Some bikes are only really good for parts (unless you're a really determined refurbisher), and these are priced up to £5. Higher prices mean better bikes needing less work - but even above £5 some bikes may only turn out to be useful for parts, or otherwise require extensive work.
In addition to the bikes below, there are many more bikes which we are not listing because they are in such a poor state - incomplete or very rusty. These will be auctioned after the main bikes below, with a starting price of £1.

About ICBUG
What is a BUG?
BUG (Bicycle User Group) is a term commonly used to describe a group of cyclists within an organisation. There are BUGs in small and large companies and institutions across the country. London Cycling Campaign has a page about BUGs. In summary, our BUG:
- Represents cyclists to Imperial College, Imperial College Union, and other organisations
- Supports cyclists who use Imperial College facilities
- Encourages people to cycle to and from Imperial College
The BUG includes staff, student and visiting cyclists, to varying degrees.
Mailing lists
Two email lists have been set up for cyclists. The membership of these lists constitute the official membership of the BUG, but we support all cyclists at IC whether you join or not.
Go to http://mailman.ic.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/bike-users to sign up to the discussion list. You can ask questions, make suggestions, discuss cycling topics and take part in the activities of the BUG.
Go to http://mailman.ic.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/bike-users-announce to sign up to the announcement list. You will get occasional messages about important events. You can't post here.
The lists are not restricted to Imperial students and staff: if you regularly cycle to Imperial to visit friends and colleagues, feel free to join in.
