Christopher Yates

About me

I am a third year PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Michael Sternberg in the Structural Bioinformatics Group at Imperial College London. My research has focussed on the analysis and prediction of the phenotypic effects of missense mutations in disease.

I have developed SuSPect, a method for predicting the effects of missense mutations. SuSPect is based on an SVM (support vector machine), which integrates number of sequence-, structure- and systems-level features. In a blind test, SuSPect outperforms other widely used methods.
